Get to know Shannon …
What’s your position at Vinelife? Youth Pastor for Kainos
What brought you to Vinelife for the first time? I heard it through the pipeline of friends who told me that Vinelife was more my flavor.
Why did you stay? When I walked into the building I felt the Holy Spirit and a familiar Spirit to other Houses of Faith that I’ve really grown in and knew that this was the place where I needed to stay.
How did you come to know Jesus? I grew up in a Charismatic home where both my mom and dad were active in the things of the Spirit. They taught me who Jesus was, how to interact with the Holy Spirit and how to play with the Father.
One of your proudest moments? Taking a risk to go to Europe with no plan and no agenda with two of my best friends to explore beautiful places, experience different cultures, walk on roads of history, and have a wonderfully adventurous time meandering through the cities of old.
What inspires you? Changing History. What inspires me the most is the idea of being used by the Lord to change the history of our planet as we know it. I get inspired by finding out what God is doing on the Earth and partnering with those things. It is the one thing that drives me aside from the Lord Himself. I want to see our generation come into worldwide revival, seeing the things of the Kingdom through my and my generation’s hands more than ever before! (Generation = if you are alive on the planet, you’re included)
Who inspires you?

What makes you laugh? My friends probably make me laugh the most. We have the same sense of humor to be able to put super serious situations into a light turn
What’s a current indulgence for you? I am watching a Korean drama, yes…, a Korean drama called “Scarlet Heart: Ryeo” and it is flippin’ great!
What are you passionate about now, that you used to not care about? I’m beginning to find that the Lord and Boulder is starting to wear on me a little bit because I’m learning about waste and how important it is to not be so wasteful. It’s so easy in our day and age to just throw something away, but it doesn’t just “go away” on the planet. I think at the core, the Lord is teaching me about stewardship. Stewarding the place that I love. 🙂
What’s something new that you’re learning in your job that has surprised you? I’ve been pretty surprised on how many meetings there are! I didn’t realize how many meetings happen every week that everyone is a part of to keep Vinelife working in excellence. I’ve had to adjust my schedule a bit to accommodate these things, because they are super helpful and important.
Your idea of a perfect day? Sitting in an oversized chair where I can get a chance to put my feet up, wrapped in a soft blanket while watching the golden and scarlet leaves fall off the trees in my favorite coffee shop, Alpine Modern, with a book that I can’t put down in one hand and coffee brewed to perfection in the other. After that, throwing one of our community’s bizarre and hilariously wonderful parties where all of my friends are in a great mood, dressed to the nines, and ready to dance the night away!
What’s currently in your CD player? Mumford and Sons Pandora Station included anything from Mumford to Johnny Cash to Coldplay to Death Cab for Cutie, but you could pretty much throw anything on in Pandora and I’m a happy camper
Your childhood ambition? I wanted to be an Archeologist working in Egypt in the pyramids and with the mummies
Your first job? My first job was as a Cashier and Balloon Filler at Party America.
What is your greatest memory? One of my greatest memories is sitting with the Lord doing some devo time inside the Colosseum in Rome reading Acts and Romans in the place that it was written for. It was history meeting the present and it was one of the most relevant times I’ve had with the Lord in a long time. What a moment.
What is your favorite movie? My favorite movies currently are Lord of the Rings, Harry Potter, Dark Knight, Braveheart, Gladiator, Ben Hurr, My Fair Lady, etc.
What do you look for in a close friend? Someone who is actively interested in my life. Someone who will listen, love, care, laugh, cry, walk with me. Someone who is willing to fight for me even when I can’t fight. Someone who supports and encourages me when I find myself discouraged. Someone who can cheer me on to what I believe the Lord is calling me into and someone who I can trust to speak to me if I’m not hearing correctly. Someone who is fun to be with, loves life, and enjoys living it together! Let’s do life together!
What do you think makes a good leader, someone that you’ll follow? Humility, Anointing, Wisdom, Revelation, Communication, Compassion, Kindness, Care, Stop-For-The-One Attitude, Teachability, Someone who is Intimate with the Lord, Authenticity, Irreproachable
Your favorite snack? Popcorn. Hands Down.
If you were given an extra hour in a day to do whatever you want, what would you do? At the moment, probably either sleep, or accomplish more of my personal daily goals. 🙂
What is something that most people don’t know about you? I’m not as serious as I may initially come off. I actually am one of the funnest people I know! I love going after adventure in as many places possible… Travel, skydiving, cliff jumping, rollar coasters, rock climbing, mountain climbing, backpacking, fending off in the woods, shooting, etc.
What’s one goal you have for the next year? To remove excess from my life.
What have you read recently that really inspired or excited you? Honestly, just take a look at my Pinterest board on “Great Quotes to Live By”. This is where I go when I need excitement or inspiration. Would love others to be inspired too! Username: Firecracker2015
What is your definition of a retreat? Probably what I mentioned in my “perfect day”
What has God been showing you lately that has surprised you? The Lord has been revealing that He is even more intricately involved in me and the dealings of my heart more than I ever could have expected. It’s always surprising when you get a revelation “bump” from Heaven and you realize something that you knew…, but never really KNEW. The Lord has been revisiting the conversation of Identity and “Sonship” or rather Daughterhood with me. He’s been taking me into deeper levels of understanding of different lies I’ve believed or addressing places that need to adjust to His word, not mine or the world’s. He’s been taking me into deep and intimate places in which I get to encounter Him in another way. I am in process like everyone else, but I am excited to walk with the One I Love through the desert, the fire, the garden and Heavenly Places because we will have more adventures together through this.
What’s your biggest challenge? Is probably getting to places early. I am really consistent in showing up somewhere around 15 ½ minutes late. 😛
Your most recent purchase? Baby Shower Decorations for my Sister and my Nephew who just came home from the hospital a few days ago after three months in the hospital! Yay God!!!
What’s God doing in your life that you are celebrating right now? I am celebrating that my nephew, Seamus Earl Miller was able to go home with my sister and brother-in-law, Krystin and Sean Miller, on October 5th after being born 12 weeks prematurely, having to undergo emergency surgery, and fighting off many infections. He is a complete fighter and has done incredibly well after amazing doctors, loving family, and so much support and prayer from our family and friends! My sister and her family are ecstatic to have him come home finally after hundreds of hospital visits, doctor’s appointments, etc. We are praying that Seamus adjusts well to the newness of home and that the family will be able to get a chance to have some good rest knowing their baby is finally home! Yay God!!
