Haney

Tammy Haney is Director of Family Ministries at Vinelife.

Get to know Tammy:

What brought you to Vinelife for the first time?

Matthew and I felt as though God was giving us a new adventure (at the time we were at a church in Austin, Texas). We began looking around and were led to this wonderful church on a hill facing the gorgeous Rocky Mountains.

Why did you stay?

When searching for where we were supposed to be, I asked God to bring us to a place that felt like home. You can’t fabricate the true feeling of home and that’s exactly what we received at Vinelife. Here we found a place that not only felt right, but is truly a place where we can seek God together as a family.

What has been your proudest moment?

It’s hard to think of just one. They all involve my kids. It doesn’t matter if they are helping someone out, seeking God’s will for their lives, or even just seeing them laugh and hang out together (without fighting – as any mother would agree). J

What inspires you?

Office Supplies! Why? I have no idea, but I love fun, colorful and contemporary office supplies. I’d trade plain thumbtacks and magnets for some with polka dots and flowers any day.

Your last purchase?

A pink and brown spiral notebook of course.

Who inspires you?

People. I love people. When I see someone reveal their heart, or begin to open up and grab hold of their self worth in Him it’s inspiring and reminds me to be transparent in who I was created to be.

What makes you laugh?

Good friends and my family (they all have a witty sense of humor). We seem to be the family of “one liners”.

What’s a current indulgence for you?

Starbucks – either a Carmel Macchiato or a Light White Chocolate Frappuccino, double blended with an extra shot of espresso.

What is one goal you have for the next year?

To actually finish painting my office.

What are you passionate about now, that you used to not care about?

Decorating – Though I don’t know that I would say I’m passionate about it, I just want to get it done.

What’s your day job?

Associate Director of Family Ministries / Homeschool Mom

What’s something new that you’re learning in your job that has surprised you?

How much I truly love working closely with my husband and the way we compliment each other with our differences.

Your idea of a perfect day?

My perfect day would involve having a snowball fight at Bear Lake with good friends. Then wrapping the day up with good conversation and laughing until our sides hurt.

What’s currently in your CD player?

Several Musical Soundtracks and Rumor of Glory

Your childhood ambition?

First, I wanted to be the Bionic Woman. Later in elementary school I either wanted to work with special needs children or go into journalism.

Your first job?

I was a telemarketer – be nice, I was only 13.

What is your greatest memory?

Taking the boys to Sea World years ago and getting drenched by Shamu.

What is your favorite movie?

I love Musicals. I also love Ever After as well as comedies.

What do you look for in a close friend?

Someone who will laugh with you and cry with you. Someone you can share anything and everything with, as well as totally be yourself around.

What’s something new that you’ve learned about the Bible lately, that has surprised you?

The truth in Matthew 6:33 – “Seek first His kingdom and His righteousness, and all these things will be added to you.” It’s a simple truth/promise, that is so easily lost. So many times the day gets away from me and I feel as if I’ve just walked in circles accomplishing nothing. But I’ve also noticed that the days I do focus on Him life just seems to flow so much better. I’ve not only had a successful day, but also feel fulfilled.

What do you think makes a good leader, someone that you’ll follow?

Someone who not only seeks God’s face, but also cares and will really listen to not only me, but others when they speak.

Your favorite snack?

Matthew’s Buffalo Wings

If you could have lunch with a famous person, who would it be and why?

She’s not famous, but it would be with my sister Andrea (Nana). I haven’t seen her in several years and I miss her so. Nobody can make me laugh like she does.

What has God been showing you lately that has surprised you?

That He sees and cares about even the little things that I struggle with.

Your fondest memory? (this is not the same as your proudest moment :-)

Matthew and I renewed our vows on our tenth anniversary. I will never forget the look in his eyes as I walked down the aisle to him.

What’s your biggest challenge?

Video games. I have to take Dramamine to play them. Being graceful to myself.

If you were given an extra hour in a day to do whatever you want, what would you do?

Blog. I love to do it, but I haven’t had much of a chance to.

What is something that most people don’t know about you?

That I was actually born to be in a musical, unfortunately I can’t act or sing.

Who is your greatest inspiration?

My husband, Matthew – I know it sounds like a corny answer, but it’s so true. He believes in me, loves me and is always cheering me on.

What is your definition of a retreat?

A time to get away from the chaos of life and reconnect with God.

If you could vacation anywhere…where would you go?

Australia! I’d love to go to the Zoo there.

What’s God doing in your life that you are celebrating right now?

Bringing our family closer to each other and Him in ways that I never imagined were possible.
